The second decade of the millennium began with a high-octane celebration that was an eye-opener, launch pad, annual report, and really really good time all rolled into one. A warm welcome address from Varghese Daniel (CEO) set the stage for a colourful day that will be long remembered. It was great to see our hardworking colleagues let down their hair for some good old-fashioned FUN! Creativity blossomed, as various WRENCHineers experimented with karaoke, followed by some truly enjoyable "fusion songs ", courtesy Jis Joy, Achuthanathan, Ganesh, Shibu, Jojo, Nikhil, Deepthy and Bibina - thanks guys, for showing us the "artistic side " of WRENCH! And thanks to the DJ (who encouraged us to burn up the floor later on with some absolutely rocking music) and to all the outstation associates who came in specially for the occasion.
We had a wonderful opportunity to meet and mingle, especially with new members of the WRENCH family. Vincent Chia (APAC Director) was MC for the day and kept us lively with his inimitable wit and sense of humour, and formally welcomed latest addition Rex Chee (Project Consultant) into the fold. A lavish cocktail dinner ended the event in style.
It was a also a time of reflection and inspiration, as CEO Varghese Daniel helped us look back at the achievements of the past year before setting forth our goals for the coming one. As a team, we now step forward with renewed hope, enthusiasm, and confidence — that in 2011 we will look back and say "Mission Accomplished! "
The first UAE-based seminar of WRENCH Enterprise took place on 28th February 2010 at the Knowledge Village, Dubai. It was organized by WRENCH partner infraCAD. The seminar concentrated on EPC critical business issues and challenges, and their impact on the neverending ‘race to completion’ faced by every project company today. Seminar participants included leading contractors, engineering and construction organizations, local government agencies and prominent design consultants of UAE.

Feedback:
Participants were asked to fill out a short questionnaire after the seminar, to assess their satisfaction with the presentation content, the event and facilities of the seminar overall, as well as comments on WRENCH itself.
“I was impressed with the presentation in that i have seen that Wrench could integrate with various other software used within a business. This increases the likelihood of being accepted by senior managers. Workflows provide opportunity to work seamlessly with outsourcing centers in a systematic and controlled manner”- Eben Pieters of WSP
All participants were satisfied given that in Abu Dhabi the event was delayed due to heavy traffic. Seeing a system like Wrench, which they have never seen before, and hear WRENCH successfully deployed through real customer presentations by CHALMERS Engineering and CH2MHILL VECO Engineering.
Participants from Mott MacDonald and Parsons invited us over to their offices for more detailed analysis of their business processes which Wrench could potential impact. Hyder Consulting gave full marks to the
Event Log:
Heavy storms had lashed Dubai the day before the event and this led to some roads being blocked. We received text messages from people who were stranded in the rain for more than 8 hours before being rescued by the police.
The number of participants exceeded our expectations – we were pleasantly surprised to see people from WSP (leading consultant), RTA (government agency), and Lamprell (offshore contractor) attending.
An introduction was given by our marketing director Vincent Chia, followed by the Chalmers customer testimonial about WRENCH. Rajasekhara Menon of Chalmers said that WRENCH is the one reliable system available today where all engineering information is available for all users - with 100% uptime in a single location. He said that WRENCH was very useful leveraged in a ‘worksharing’ project situation, as the teams felt like their Indian office was right next door, thanks to WRENCH.
This was followed by a detailed product demo by Varghese Daniel.

Metito (U.A.E) plans
to implement WRENCH for Engineering data management: World leader in water treatment systems chose to update WRENCH as
its primary I.T. infrastructure for project monitoring and Engineering data management.
Since 1958, Metito (U.A.E) has earned a
reputation for excellence in the design and supply of water / wastewater treatment and water desalination systems. With a highly-trained
staff of over 800 professionals, Metito's approach combines theoretical expertise with the practical experience of an engineering and
contracting company.
From ‘document management' to project, quality, process and Engineering data
management. Some time earlier Metito had invested in the popular EDMS software Documentum in a bid to capture and
hopefully be able to reuse project information like drawings and other documentation. Going by the example of many other
engineering companies who had also installed this s/w, Metito went ahead and got Documentum, and thus were reluctant to explore the
new solution WRENCH. However, the WRENCH team managed to make a demo to a senior team at Metito, who were so impressed by
the process-driven approach of WRENCH EPC that they were willing to evaluate further, even though at the time had already decided to
invest in another software called Mclaren (which had a workflow module) to run on top of Documentum.
Evaluating with
reference customers and pilot implementation Metito's Quality manager and Project manager visited 5 WRENCH EPC
customer sites, and speaking directly to the end users and implementation team at these sites, gave a very positive report back to the
management. They decided to go ahead with a WRENCH pilot implementation, which was a great success, and got positive response
from Metito's consultant partners also.
Roll out The consultant recommended that WRENCH be
implemented across the entire organization to improve reduce cycle time and ensure quality. WRENCH was then rolled out across all
Metito's offices, starting from their head office in UAE and in Qatar, India, cairo and Manila.
Results Along with faster cycle time and assured quality, Metito was able to Streamline the entire product process from inquiry - to -
delivery, with special attention to enquiry processing. Tackle manpower constraints by automating workflows, make quality control
foolproof and non-tamperable.
Khatib
and Alami(U.A.E), is the biggest Architectural Engineering and
project management companies in the middle east region, with a reputation for creating some of world's largest and most unique
buildings in the world, including the very prestigious Jeballi Airport (one of the largest cargo airport in the world).
Khatib and
Alami (U.A.E), ranked among the top 50 International Engineering firms in the world, turns to WRENCH as I.T partner for faster
engineering, quality compliance assurance, and enhanced productivity. K&A to implement WRENCH-EPC on one of the largest
infrastructure project (SHAMS Abu Dhabi - US$3 Billion) and soon to extend it to all its projects.
K&A is located in 12
countries and has projects are in the field of infrastructure, District and city waste management system, Transportation (Roads, bridges,
Airports), Oil and gas engineering in collaboration with ARAMCO (Saudhi Arabia), GIS etc.,
Manual process, insufficient
support from existing I.T threatens continued growth To support its rapid growth, K&A had put together a file-based
system and identified a document controller in each location to upload and download file from a common FTP server. The challenge of
this system was there was a lot of manual labour and huge dependency on the document controllers. This combined with the many
bottlenecks, delays and challenges inherent in any manual-driven working environment made K&T decide to opt for a more robust
and comprehensive I.T. system that could offer proven business value for real-world requirements.
After checking out the
various solutions available in the market, K&A chose WRENCH based on its strong track record and good domain
expertise.
Results K&A is extremely happy with the results it has seen so far from WRENCH.
WRENCH-EPC is now being rolled out across all the other office locations and all project handled by K&A. WRENCH-EPC is also
being implemented for in the Infrastructure, Oil and Gas, Transportation and GIS business of K&A.
Simon Carves (UK) one of the Global Engineering Leader
has partnered with WRENCH to set up an integrated I.T. infrastructure across its offices worldwide for managing global turnkey
projects. With the implementation of WRENCH, Simon Carves will have total control of all projects across multiple locations.
Distributed project teams can work as a single 'virtual' team online, without depending on FTP or email to share information,
collaborate, release to site or monitor work. WRENCH will be rolled out at Simon Carves' UK, India and Singapore offices during a 16
week period. (The Punj Lloyd group also has standardized on WRENCH as its in-house IT infrastructure.)
